SODA requires administrator privileges in order to access its project and settings files. The install registers the software to be run in administrator mode, but in case you see error messages when starting SODA, go to the SODA installation directory, right-click on SODA.exe, click Properties, click on Compatibility tab. Select to run this program as administrator.
Also, the User Account Control should be turned off.
SODA hangs if you click on another loads tab while any of the load tables are in edit mode (any cell has the focus). That is an known issue with the Microsoft data grid
control.
The design is aborted when load combinations are found where no corresponding loads exist. This is because the engine expects to find at least one load of the type included in
load combination, and that load needs to be applied to a node/member at least.
(You don’t need loads of the types that have a zero factor in the load
combination, though.)
You need to delete the load combinations where there are no loads of that
type.

SODA 5.2 Features
The 5.2 version was a major update with many new modeling and editing features (click on titles to open slides):
Added Edit Nodes and Edit Members menu items - dialogs allowing allow you to edit properties of multiple nodes and members, repectively, even properties that are different for the selected nodes or members.
Added Edit Groups menu item that allows you to edit properties for multiple groups
The right-click menu in the viewports was improved and added to the Structure form as well
The members end-fixity conditions (fixed, pinned etc) are now displayed using distinct graphics symbols
Labels property in Nodes and Members settings Graphics form allow you to change the colour and font for the name tags
Graphics engine:
Improved undo/redo and paste/delete speed
Improved engine speed in loading and manipulating large structures
Faster automatic frame generation
Improved status dialog now displays the progress during all major operations: copy, move, merge, undo/redo, loading workspace - with detailed status messages
